Why does Durrell come to mind just as I begin gridding up a canvas for the first time in more years than I want to think about? Perhaps it's Egypt, or perhaps it's the struggle of making art. (I am not happy with this collage; it's been too long and I have, for now, lost the touch.) They say the hardest part is starting. I've known that. I didn't expect it would be this hard. The association with Durrell at least is pleasant company. Let's get on with it.
