Noel Thomas, AWS
Watercolors
I find the tension of the watercolor medium freeing. When I stand in front of the easel I feel like I've happened upon an old love - sometimes thrilling, sometimes "impossible," always intense. Though I am influenced by many artists, I feel I am my own painter - my watercolors don't look like anyone else's. Good or bad, they're mine: a moody bowl of fruit one day, a rusting cargo ship leaving port the next. I paint what's out my window, in my studio, on location, and from photographs - whatever grabs me. I have no rules, no agenda - just myself, the paint and the paper.
