We keep a pair of T. terrestris premanently together in an enclosure
with a pair of capybara at Paignton Zoo. This species mixture has worked
very well with no intra or inter specific agression problems. The tapirs
have not bred which could be related to the fact they are permanently
together but we really do not have enough information to comment on
this.

As for plants we can't be much help, our tapirs have been quite happy to
eat every plant we have given them!
