Hello!

My name is Tracy Poitra and I am currently doing my internship at the
Minnesota Zoo. I have chosen to conduct research on the "Tapiris Indicus."
We have two female Malaysian Tapirs here at the zoo, and we are planning to
exhibit them together. I have read about inter-species exhibits here on
Tapir Talk, and was wondering if there are any behavioral studies done on
the Tapir at all, specifically the Malaysian Tapir, and where I could find
it. If you could be of any help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Tracy Poitra

I am pleased to introduce the Environmental Scientist mail list.

This list was developed to provide a forum for practicing Environmental =

Natural Resource Management, Wetland Management, Endangered and Threaten=
ed Species Management, Environmental Assessment, Sampling, Monitoring, =
etc...

Environmental Science faculty and students are invited to participate and=
 will be welcome.

Although this list will be unmoderated, we have instilled some "anti-spam=
ming" weaponry which we hope will be effective. Commercial announcements=
will not be excluded as long as they will be of interest to the members.

To subscribe, send a message to subscribe@envtechcenter.com with the foll=
owing message in the body:

Subject: Subject: Tapir Talk: Introduction

Dear TP'ers,

I'm new to the list and like to introduce myself and my work on the WWW.
Although tapirs are not my main interest I like to stay informed,
particulary about the Malayan Tapir.

I'm Ed Colijn, developer of the web-based Indonesian Nature Conservation
Database at the URL below.

The site holds info on the many protected areas of Indonesia. Each
reserve entry comprises general info, access, accommodation, important
addresses and a list of occuring flora and fauna.

An other part of the site consists of annotated checklists of all
mammals (incl. the Malyan Tapir:-) and birds of Indonesia. Each entry
comprises scientific name, common name, (recent) synonyms, vernacular
name, distribution in Indonesia and CITES, IUCN, U.S. ESA, CMS and
Indonesian status.

Recently I put up some pages about the Indonesian forest fires.

I like to invite anyone interested to visit the site and send me her/his
opinion and constructive comments.

All the best,
Ed

Atentamente, Silvia Chalukian.

and I take the opportunity to say hi to all of the group!
