For Patricia, regarding your protocol...
What is the anesthetic protocol you are using to capture the tapirs? Who
set it up and have you heard of other successes or failures using that
particular protocol? Who is advising your project on the veterinary side of
things? Did the protocol come from Florida, and what is the estimated
weight ot the tapirs you are using to get your dosages?
I hope you don't mind all these questions.

Pitfalls have been used especially with Malayan tapirs, that where caught
accidentally while trying to catch rhinos. I don't know how deep the holes
were, or how they got them out though.
Many folks resort to getting a team of Vaqueros and dogs together. This may
be understancably difficult to do in Pocos dos Antes.
