A placid pair, 1901

A placid pair of tapirs
Tapir scan ("Indian Tapir") © 2000 Sheryl Todd

This print is in the collection of the Tapir Preservation Fund. It was a plate in a book, and unfortunately we don't have the original book. The title on the page says, "Indian Tapir," which is another name for the Asian or Malayan tapir. As far as we know, tapirs never occurred in India. The print is from a natural history book printed (according to the person we bought the print from) in 1901. The image area is about 11 inches wide and 7 1/2 inches tall.

All tapirs are endangered species.
Saving tapirs helps save the rainforest.
