The full print is shown above, with a detail of the tapir shown below. This print is in the collection of the Tapir Preservation Fund. It's an original hand-colored engraving from A History of the Earth and Animated Nature by Oliver Goldsmith, published about 1840 to 1870 by Blackie & Son, Glasgow, Edinburgh & London. The artist was J. Stewart; the engraver was J. Bishop. The animals are numbered; the title on the page says, "1. Hippopotamus. 2. Indian Rhinoceros. 3. Muchoco White Rhinoceros. 4.5. Two Horned African Rhinoceros. 6. Malay Tapir." The image area measures about 8 inches wide by 5 inches tall.

All tapirs are endangered species.
Saving tapirs helps save the rainforest.
