New Baby Asian Tapir

This adorable baby Asian tapir (often called Malayan tapir) was only a day or two old when these pictures were taken on Februay 26, 2006. It is so new that it hasn't been named yet and it's birth hasn't been announced to the public. We were fortunate to be given permission to publish the pictures on this site and so be the first to introduce this little one to the world. We will provide the name of the "mystery zoo", date of birth, and the baby's and parents' names, when the official announcement of the birth is made, so check back often. Hmm, wonder if they will have a naming contest?
