This Associated Press newspaper picture of a mother tapir and her calf has been around the Web for a long time. I downloaded it from a gopher site which no longer seems to exist, or I'd give more extensive credit. I don't know when the picture was taken.

The caption reads, "A rare Malayan tapir and its mother walked to water yesterday at the Philadelphia Zoo. The baby tapir weighed 20 pounds when it was born on Jan. 4 and is the fifth of its mother's calves."


All tapirs are endangered species.
Saving tapirs helps save the rainforest.
