As of 1997, Colombo was one of three Baird's tapirs at the Kanazawa Zoo in Yokohama, Japan. He was born August 14, 1982, at the Riverbanks Zoo in South Carolina, USA. He was moved to the San Diego Zoo and on May 25, 1988, he became a resident of Japan along with his mate, Brook. These photos were sent by Dr. Michiru Tamura.
