Baird's tapirs, Chiapas, Mexico

Two Baird's tapirs at the Tuxtla Gutierrez Zoo in Chiapas, Mexico. The slide was processed in January, 1976, but I don't know who the photographer was. It may have been sent to the Tapir Research Institute of Claremont, California, by the zoo's founder and director, Dr. Miguel Alvarez del Toro. The zoo is now named after him.
All tapirs are endangered species.
Saving tapirs helps save the rainforest.
