Baird's tapirs, Chiapas, Mexico

This is the baby Baird's tapir with the white nose. The pictures were blown up from tiny images on snapshots sent to the Tapir Research Institute of Claremont, California, in 1973 by the zoo's founder and director, Dr. Miguel Alvarez del Toro. When the tapir grew up, it looked like this.
All tapirs are endangered species.
Saving tapirs helps save the rainforest.
