On April 21, 1997, I received this letter:
Tapir Preservation Fund
P.O. Box 1432
Palisade, Colorado 81526 USA
Dear Sheryl Todd,
Our ninth grade biology class of Colegio Nueva Granada in Bogota, Colombia would like to donate $125.00 to the Tapir Preservation Fund. We have done research on the tapirs and we feel it is our duty to help save them from becoming extinct.
The mountain tapirs are amazing animals and we would hate for them to leave this earth forever. They are unique and they help the Andes very much.
We admire you for setting up a place to donate money in Colorado as well as on the internet. To raise this money, we had two bake sales. We didn't think kids would respond to this but they did. Pins were made to show people that we must save the mountain tapir and a lot of kids bought them and wore them to show that our school, Colegio Nueva Granada, is proud to help save the mountain tapirs!
Sincerely,

The ninth grade biology class of Colegio Nueva Granada,
Bogota, Colombia
