About Emus
The emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae) is the largest bird of Australia. It is second in size to the ostrich among all birds. It is a flightless bird and belongs to the group of ratites, including the kiwi, which is found in New Zealand and the cassowary, found in New Guinea. It has soft brown feathers and can run up to 30 mph. It weighs around 50 to 100 lbs, has small vestigial wings and only three toes. It feeds on seeds leaves and small insects and travels long distances to find the right food.
