The wild turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) is native to North America and is one of its largest birds. They can be up to 4 feet long and have a wingspan of up to 5 feet. Many weigh as much as 20 pounds. They have adept eyesight. The turkey's range has been impacted by increased human population. They are still hunted today but are carefully managed in order to maintain their population.
