Our bat-eared fox by Hansa is so relistic you'll expect it to trot over and have its head scratched. Or scamper on about its business. In reality, it will do neither, but it will be more than happy to keep you company. Measuring 16 inches from nose to rump, the tail extends its length another 10 inches. The fox stands 9 inches tall at the back, and each magnificent ear is 4 1/2 or 5 inches tall, depending on where you measure. This fox is GORGEOUS! It is hand made, as are all of Hansa's toy animals. The bat-eared fox lives in the African savanna. It has very small teeth adapted for eating insects, but as you can see, the ears are enormous, giving the fox its unusual name. The bat-eared fox feeds mainly on insects, including termites and locusts. They also eat rodents, birds, eggs, and sometimes fruit. Although it is unknown if these foxes mate for life, they tend to be monogamous and a fox pair will raise its two to five pups in a den. Discussion continues about whether this animal is a true fox or may be related but separate. It is a very old creature, having already developed as a species in the Pleistocene.
