Leopards (Panthera pardus) occupy a wide range of habitats and have the most extensive distribution of any of the wild species of cat; occurring throughout much of Africa and Asia. Typically the coat is pale tan and marked with "rosettes" - broken circles of black spots. The smallest of the great cats (jaguar, tiger, lion, leopard), the leopard is an agile climber and will often stalk monkeys in the trees, or it will lie in wait on a limb for some terrestrial animal to pass by. It hunts mainly at night. The name leopard is also given to other species resembling the true leopard, such as the clouded leopard (Neofilis nebulosa) of southeastern Asia, with cloudlike markings on its grayish to yellowish coat, and the snow leopard (Uncia uncia) of Central Asia. The cheetah is sometimes called the hunting leopard.
These 3-D (three dimensional) puzzle animals are some of the more detailed we have seen, making them an interesting replica as well as a fun toy for grown-ups and children above the age of 3. The 24 pieces are cleverly fitted, flexible, and not too difficult to assemble. This snow leopard measures 4 3/4 inches from head to tail and stands 2 1/8 inches tall. See our other 3-D Puzzle animals here. Be sure to look over our other leopard toys and gifts.
