The tiger (Panthera tigris) is the world's largest cat and the largest meat-eating land mammal. Their striped coats range in color from reddish-brown to rust-brown with a white underbelly. The stripes can be black, brown or gray. No two tigers have the same pattern of stripes. A recessive gene is the cause of the rare white or black coat color. This powerful and solitary predator once roamed widely throughout Asia. At the beginning of the last century, there were an estimated 100,000 tigers in the wild. Today, between 5,100 and 7,000 remain. Three of the eight subspecies of tiger have become extinct in the last three decades. The five remaining subspecies live in small islands of forest surrounded by a sea of humanity. Relentless poaching and habitat loss continue to threaten their existence.
This realistic-looking toy tiger is made of hollow plastic and measures 4 1/2 inches long from nose to tail and stands 1 1/2 inches tall. The body is moulded with a fur-like pattern and details that almost make it seem real. Its name is moulded into the underside. This sturdy, light-weight plastic big cat is great for school projects, toys, novelties, animal collections, party favors and more. Our plastic tiger is for decoration or play only. You can make a wonderful big cat shoebox diorama using this and other plastic creatures from our gift shop. Best of all, there is no mess, no feeding, and no tank or cage cleaning :) Check out our terrific selection of tiger toys and gifts.
