About Tusoteuthis
The tusoteuthis is an extinct giant squid from the late Cretaceous Period. Although it grew to up to 30 feet in length, it was preyed upon by other large sea creatures of the period. Like squid today, tusoteuthis, propeled water through its body and could swim at speeds of about 15 miles per hour. It had long tentacles to snare its prey and a beak-like jaws to clasp it. It is unclear when they died out, and rumors abound still today of the possibility of one lurking in the deep.
