"Caribou" is the name given in North America to the wild (non-domesticated) reindeer. Our realistic-looking plastic caribou is a winner. It looks like the real thing and is a wonderful educational toy, useful for shoebox dioramas and other school projects, a collector's item, a gift for your favorite caribou fan, and more. Made of solid, rubbery (somewhat flexible) plastic, it measures 4 inches from nose to tail. The antlers reach out above the head another 1/4 inch forward. The height of the caribou with the anlers is also about 4 inches. This plastic animal was made in Germany, as is moulded into the underside the animal. The name is moulded also as "KARIBU," the German spelling of caribou. Be sure to see our other deer, reindeer and caribou toys and gifts.

According to Wikipedia, "The reindeer is distributed throughout a number of northern locales. Reindeer are found in northern Scandinavia; at Spitsbergen; in European parts of Russia including northern Russia and Novaya Zemlya; in the Asian parts of Russia; northern Mongolia; northeastern China to the Pacific Ocean; in North America (where it is called the caribou); on Greenland, Canada and Alaska. Until the early nineteenth century it still occurred in southern Idaho. In 1952 reindeer were re-introduced to Scotland, as the natural stock had become extinct, probably in the 10th century. Domesticated reindeer are mostly found in northern Scandinavia and Russia, and wild reindeer are mostly found in Norway, North America, Greenland and Iceland (where they were introduced by humans in the 18th century)."
