Our plastic rattlesnake is small, measuring 2 1/4 inches from its tiny tongue to the end of its "rattles." The rattles are moulded as indentations in the plastic, and they give a good impression, but they don't rattle. They are raised above ground level as if the snake were crawling across the desert sand. The tongue also gives the impression of being forked, because it's wide and flat at the end with a slight indentation, but it is not actually forked. This little plastic rattlesnake is great for shoebox dioramas as well as for collector of reptile replicas, for model train layouts and as a toy for older children who won't be inclinded to swallow small toys. Be sure to see our other cool snake toys and gifts.
There are 16 distinct varieties of rattlesnake. All can be recognized by their rattles, although they vary some in other aspects. Rattlesnakes are among the four types of snake in the US whose bite can be fatal to humans. The others are the coral snake, copperhead, and the cottomouth water moccasin. A rattlesnake's bite is not usually fatal, but it can make a person sick, and some people have died from the venom. The range of the rattlesnake is centered in California with the largest concentration and most species found there, and they radiate to some degree to all of the states contiguous with California.
