Our realistic-looking plastic saguaro cactus is made of solid plastic, and measures 2 inches tall and 1 1/2 inches wide. This plastic miniature saguaro cactus can be used as an educational toy, in a shoebox diorama or other school project, or as a collector's item. Be sure to see our other lizard and cacti toys and gifts.

The saguaro cactus (Carnegiea gigantea) is the most distinctive plant of the Arizona and Sonoron desert. It is also the state flower of Arizona. It grows very slowly, about 1 inch a year, to a height of 15-50 feet and may live for 200 years or more. It has a columnar stem of about 24 inches and several curved arms. The saguaro cactus develops bright white flowers with yellow centers which open in the evening and develop into brilliant red fruit in late Spring and early Summer. The saguaro cactus is home to and provides nutrition and shade for a myriad of animal species, especially woodpeckers and owls that burow inside the stem. The name saguaro is a Spanish adaptation of the Native American word. The saguaro cactus played an important role in Native art and housing construction. It is a delight to see this cactus throughout the desert landscape.
