About Water Moccasins
The water moccasin also known as a cottonmouth (Agkistrodon piscivorus ) is a poisonous snake found in the eastern part of the United States. It is a semi-aquatic snake found in brackish waters and swamps. Some water moccasins actually can live in salt water. The water moccasin derives its name from its appearance. When angered the snake opens its mouth which is white in appearance. Cottonmouths or water moccasins feed generally on small aquatic animals like frogs and salamanders. It is a dangerous agressive snake and has the ability to deliver a fatal bite.
