This adorable little stuffed lemming (six inches from nose to teeny tail) is both realistic and extremly soft. If a six-inch toy can be considered cuddly, this one certainly is. It has bright black eyes, a leather-like nose, and mass of soft nylon whiskers. The feet are made of fabric with shorter fur than the body, and the toes are made with stitching and paint. The nub of a tail is clearly articulated from the body. This stuffed rodent has all of the characteristics and superior quality you expect from Hansa. Be sure to see our other rodent toys and gifts.

Lemmings are small rodents that live on the Arctic tundra. They range in size from under three inches long to the 6-inch size you see here in the form of our stuffed lemming. Real lemmings feed on leaves, shoots, grasses, sedges, roots and bulbs. They remain active throughout the winter, burrowing through the snow. Lemmings are usually solitary, meeting only to mate. Wikipedia has a lot to say about the misconception of lemmings committing mass suicide by jumping off of cliffs. In reality, they migrate in packs when their numbers become too large, and they also swim. They will attempt to swim to new homes, and depending on conditions, they may reach land, or they may drown. They can also be pushed off of cliffs if the masses of animals beind them are still moving toward the cliff, but they do not intentionally (or in a fit of frenzy) commit suicide. Their behavior has been characterized as "typical of other rodents."
