Wildlife Jewelry by Corinna Bechko

These wonderful jewelry items are made by Corinna Bechko, who is not only an artist and tapir fan, but has a degree in zoology. She worked at the Los Angeles Zoo in the research division and volunteered at a wild animal rehab center in Southern California. Her favorite animals there were the opossums. She continues to work with wild animals. Corinna attended the Jewelry Arts Academy in Manhattan. The Los Angeles resident is also an author and filmmaker. What a lucky day it was for us in the mid-1990s when she discovered our web site and suggested we might want to see the jewelry she makes! Her art has been making our customers happy for nearly 10 years, and we are thrilled to be a part of it.

Customers have a wide variety of choices. Each piece is made from sturdy, lightweight, semi-gloss aluminum and comes in a variety of colors. The shiny eye on pieces such as the ones shown above, is the core color of the aluminum Corinna uses. The lines that make up the detail on the pieces are not drawn on, but cut into or through the aluminum. Pendants and earrings come with a bead. Corinna will try to find any color you want, so bead choices are almost endless. The bead styles will vary, as each is an individual creation. The pendants hang on a 17-inch black silk cord (included).

Shown on this page are examples of black, gray (kind of a silver-gray), dark blue, pink, yellow and light brown. They can also be ordered in red, purple and green. Because they're made of a semi-gloss aluminum, the scanner did not do them justice. Many of these pictures have been enlarged to show detail. Please see individual piece for correct size.

Wolf Pendant Tapir earrings Pink tapir earrings with a beautiful metal bead. The tapirs scanned a bit darker than the real thing. It's always a delightful surprise to see which beads Corinna chooses to go with the earrings and pendants.
