This beautiful mountain tapir baby (Tapirus pinchaque) is made in Colombia by Sergio Sandoval, a tapir scientist, conservationist, and artist. Each item is made by hand from an original model. The tapir is 5 inches long and stands 4 inches tall. Like all baby tapirs, this one has stripes, and because it was made by someone intimately familiar with tapirs, the features (such as the number of toes) are accurate.

It is always our pleasure to present items that benefit conservation by purchasing from people who are also working to protect animals and their habitats. Sergio says, "This initiative is the first step to consolidate the first organization dedicated to study and protect the tapirs in Colombia. I'm really happy to have the opportunity to send part of our work to the people of TPF. The funds obtained by the selling of these crafts will be used to carry on tapir research and conservation in Colombia."
