In August 2003, we went to the Seattle Gift Show and spent two days going from booth to booth looking for tapirs. Believe it or not, this is the only one we could find! It was very exciting to find one with such lifelike detail, believe me! OK, its eyes are orange. But check out the nose, the fur, the little tail. It has the correct number of toes, and although you can't tell in this photo, it has nicely formed nostrils. Even the stance connotes weighty tapirness, although in reality it's made of lightweight (hollow) plastic. It is very sturdy, and willing to stand for hours without making a sound or disturbing your desk. The tapir is a hair under 3 inches from nose to rump, and stands 1 3/4 inches at the eartips. He is made of sturdy, hollow plastic and is very durable. Come look through our entire collection of plastic tapirs.

"Mojito," pronounced "Mohito," was given his name in a naming contest. The winning name was submitted by Katalin Pinter of Hungary, who has also given us photos of her favorite tapir Samson, who lives in a zoo in Hungary. Samson is a lowland tapir. See him in our photo section under lowland tapirs.
