Our good scanner broke when we moved, and it is so hard to get a good picture of this small piece of jewelry. The quality is excellent, the weight of the pewter is substantial, and the artist does a beautiful job of hand-painting. The finish is shiny, extremely attractive and durable. It simply looks and feels artistic and nicely made. We'll be looking for another scanner soon. Meanwhile, here is the blurb. . . .
This miniature painting on pewter is wearable art. The fine detailing makes it a handsome and unique piece. This truly unique tapir jewelry was designed, cast and hand-pained in the USA especially for the Tapir Preservation Fund. This Asian, Malay, or Malayan tapir (Tapirus indicus) is black with a white saddle. The eye is subtle, but visible. The painted tapir also has white ear fringes, as in real tapirs, while the other white or light markings you see here are due to the shine of the painted surface. The tapir is 1 1/4 inches long from nose to tail, and is about 7/8 of an inch tall. There are TWO pointed posts on the back with pinch-clip attachments, so the tapir stays in place when you wear it. It will not twist out of alignment as a pin or tie tac might that has only one post. Of course, if you prefer to have your tapir "walking" up or down a hill, you can attach it that way, too. You will love this high-quality, unusual piece of tapir art, and your purchase will support the conservation of these endangered animals in the wild. The same tapir casting was used for our unique Malayan tapir keychains cast in pewter especially for TPF.
