During the July, 2000, capture round, Patr̀cia Medici caught four tapirs - three males and a female. She photographed the teeth of each animal during the radio-collaring process so she could begin to learn what the teeth of tapirs look like at different ages. On the left is one of the young males, "Marinho." On the right, an adult male, "Mikilique."

On the left, teeth of another young male, "Joao." On the right are the teeth of the one female caught this round. The tapir was a young one, which the the team named "Patr̀cia."


All tapirs are endangered species.
Saving tapirs helps save the rainforest.
