Mona, a Baird's Tapir
Mona, about a month old and weighing around 30 pounds. Note that the stripe-and-spot camouflage pattern is still strong all the way down to her back toes. The stripes and spots on her feet and legs will be among the first to go as she grows up.
All species of tapir are striped and spotted as babies, but these patterns vary somewhat between species. The patterns will be compared elsewhere on this site.

All tapirs are endangered species.
Saving tapirs helps save the rainforest.
