Mona, a Baird's Tapir

Mona, about a month old and weighing around 30 pounds. This photo shows her snout in a somewhat extended position. The Baird's tapir tends to have more white on the snout than the Brazilian.

Her camouflage is good. In the dappled pattern of the grass, you can barely see where her rump ends!

All tapirs are endangered species.
Saving tapirs helps save the rainforest.
