Peruvian wood carving

Photo © 1972 Sheryl Todd
This mountain tapir was carved of light-colored wood in Peru, where it was puchased by Russell A. Mittermeier about 1972. "Sacha vaca" is one of the local names for the tapir.
All tapirs are endangered species.
Saving tapirs helps save the rainforest.
