In this photo you can see that the little tapir's mottled coloring serves him well! The youngster may be a lowland tapir hybrid. The mother looks almost like a lowland tapir, but not quite the norm. She may be a hybrid herself. The photo was taken at the Baños Zoo in Ecuador.


All tapirs are endangered species.
