1. Danger to humans/horses in Baird's tapir country?
2. Trying to contact the lady who kept a tapir on her farm
Dear Tapir Talkers,
I have two items today. The first is, a Panamanian tapir fan who has been
studying in the U.S. will be going back to Panama this summer. He would like
to go into the jungle on horseback and hopes to see a tapir. His question:
what is the risk of danger to himself or the horse if a tapir is sighted? We
know they normally tend to run, but we know there have also been some
attacks. If anyone can supply suggestions especially regarding use of horses
around Baird's tapirs, please contact me (for Tapir Talk or in private).
Item 2: Some time ago we had an interesting post about the behavior of a
tapir on a farm in the same enclosure with deer. I'm sorry, I've forgotten
your name. Could you please contact me? Thanks.
