Subject: Young Tapir ¿Abandonado¿Priority: normal

Our Tapir is in a new location. Now he has a mulch floor, and he is
much more active. We are using now a natural herb infussion
called ¿Matico¿ that is very good against irritation. The tissue
analisys showed sensibility to sulphurous compounds and we wil
start sistemic treatment for the foot ulcers very soon. Much
regards for all the friends that sent me many suggestions for this
very sensitive animal, I am very glad because a new hope is
growing.

Would somebody recommend drug dose for this weak 14 months
tapir.

I would like to join the list for tapir talk. I am an Assistant curator at

found your site while searching the web and think it is a great way to share
information.

Sharon Matola says, "Yes, NRDC is amazing, we are working very closely together and Sheryl, at the end of the day, if we can save this habitat, T. bairdi will be on a stronger direction thanks to them."

If you're new to the list or have not taken the time yet, you can help by going to this page and sending a pre-written letter to Duke and Fortis, the conglomerates behind the poorly-planned dam that would wipe out Baird's habitat in Belize:

http://www.nrdc.org/wildlife/habitat/nbelize.asp

The next link will take you to more info about the dam project including a downloadable report, and letters from Sharon:

Thank you.

PATRICIA MEDICI'S FIELD REPORT

http://www.tapirback.com/tapirgal/lowland/medici/00-mar/capture.htm

Follow this link to a report on Patricia's March Capture Round for her project in the Pontal do Paranapanema, Brazil. We hope it's almost like being there, minus the bug bites. There are 24 very nice large photos linked to the page - most were taken by Heidi Frohring. The photos from the camera traps are by Laury Cullen, Jr. For those who have never taken part in this type of field work, it's there in all the details. We all hope you enjoy it!
