1. Comparing tapir feet
2. Do I owe you a letter?
Dear Tapir Talkers,
Patricia Medici just got back from the field (July capture round). It was
very successful, and I'm sure she'll tell us about it soon. But, she also
sent some pictures of tapir feet. I've added one to the web page that
compares feet, and now you can really begin to see the difference among
species. I'm still looking for a foot of Baird's tapir from the same angle
and fairly close up, and also another lowland tapir picture. As you can see,
this one is taken while the tapir was in a pitfall trap. It does show the
differences, but I'd like to get one that is closer to the same angle,
showing the actual attachment of the outer toe while the foot is standing on
fairly hard ground.

Enjoy. I think this is really interesting.
Oh yes, and I emptied my mailbox folder the other day and forgot it would
"unminimize" all of the messages I was waiting to answer. If I owe you a
letter, please let me know. I still have your letter, it's just not where I
can find it as easily. That's one way to get work done, but not the way I
would have preferred!
Thank you!
Sheryl
